I think I need to get a camelia for my garden. I always wanted it, but now, when you told that it smelled beets, I want it even more - I love beets! Salsa Purple is gorgeous! You have a lot of pretty blooms, Rebecca!

Great pictures Rebecca, I love that Scabiosa. Very cool, your descriptions of things just coming into blossom as things all die back here in the east. Looking forward to the next several months of posts by you guys on the "Left Coast".

My, my, a lot is going on in your beautiful space. I'd love a camellia, and especially that one, because of the purple tinged foliage. What would we do without salvias and sages? They brighten the garden when it's hot and when it cools. Happy bloom day.~~Dee

Rebecca, I can't wait until my Eupatorium is as big as yours. I cheated and added my Aeonium too. Great minds think alike.

I agree - they're awesome. They really kick out the blooms, don't they? And you're right - the color combos are really beautiful...

Thanks so much! Orange is one of my favorite colors, so no surprise that Halloween is my favorite holiday! I've had problems w/the scabiosa in the past, but this year it's really really happy....

The Scabiosa is my favorite. I can't get it to grow well for me.

PS-I love your orange and green blog colors. It's like a pumpkin, or a sunflower!

What great pictures! I particularly love the first one with the pumpkins. It's beautiful. And I love the picture of the Aeoniums. Happy bloom day to ya!

I love your description of robins looped like pirates on pyracantha berries, isn't that the truth! Lovely post my dear; your garden is one of my favorites. Were you able to save the banana tree that fell over in the storm?

Oh how I love these pictures! I'm so lucky to just live a couple of houses away...I can walk by and see all these beauties in person. Once again I have learned something...had no idea that mums were perennial. Someday when I have a garden with sun I will plant them...they make me happy and remind me of grandmothers for some reason...they seem so old fashioned.
Happy gardening!

Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing with us. I too love the Salsa Salvias. I use tons in container plantings because they can lead to some interesting combinations. I love that the colors are soft, yet vibrant. Almost dusty in nature.

My Cestrum actually does a little better with filtered shade, and when it's not quite so hot (our summers are usually in the mid 80's, with a few weeks in the 90's). Since they're so fast growing, and so darn resilient, I would highly recommend giving them a try!

Rebecca, lovely pictures. I liked your Cestrum newelii but have never seen it. It is listed as only growing in milder areas of the UK so I could grow this but do you think it needs your hot summers to flower?

Best wishes Sylvia (England)
