the 'good' gossip, that is…

Cherubs and Hearts – from my garden to yours…

.

.

my mother made this for me last year...I’ve always, always, always loved hearts. They’re the one thing I can draw perfectly.

.

While searching for some old photos the other day, I found my high school journal (vintage 1982) where I came upon a slightly gloomy poem I had scribbled down – fitting for a love-sick high school girl!  Of course, I left off the author of the poem, probably so anyone who happened to find it one day would think I was the brilliant mind behind it….but alas, I was just plagiarizing.

.

Along with this poem (most likely the only one I’ll ever post on this site!) are some Valentiney images of cherubs and hearts that are scattered all throughout my garden.

.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

.

.

.

“Hearts”

I draw them endlessly,

one slender curve

connecting with another

creating graceful, plump hearts.

.

.

.

They dance carelessly over all my belongings

Outlined in blue, black or pencil-gray

left empty.

.

.

.

Never colored red.

Hearts of love are red

with crooked arrows pierced bluntly through them.

“I love you” written prettily in the middle.

.

.

.

.

I .

.

.

.

.

..

I don’t bother to fill mine scarlet

or any other artistic endeavors,

But I continue to occupy my idle hand…

with forever scribbled

empty hearts.

.

.

I TOLD you it was a sappy poem!!  But hey – isn’t that what Valentine’s Day is all about?
